Handmade in Hamburg Germany, the Ground FX Koloss is not a replica of any existing Muff. Apart from an additional mid-pot that interacts with the tone-pot, you‘ll also have a saturation control, a very nice feature that controls the fatness of the Koloss pedal.

All Muffs out there have two gain stages. Some of these Muffs allow a different clipping in the second stage. But Ground FX didn't like these clipping options available via toggle, so they decided to add a third gain stage, that can be activated via footswitch.

The first two gain stages are based on SI-diodes, and produce very doomy and gnarly distortion/fuzz sounds. The third stage brings in some GE-diodes into the circuit. Expect pure thickness and a lot of deep, low end from the Koloss!

Koloss is a perfect pedal for bassists as well. That's why Ground FX integrated an active blend circuit to mix the dry and wet signal... ideal for bass players too!
